We present the Webinar from Encounter Japan Travel: “Doors to Western Japan: Osaka and Hiroshima”

Discover Osaka and Hiroshima in our Third Webinar.

On June 25th, Encounter Japan Travel held its third exclusive webinar for travel agents, focusing on the most western destination in Japan: the regions of Hiroshima and Osaka. During the seminar, key recommendations were shared about points of interest, culture, and local experiences for travelers looking to discover the most authentic Japan.

Osaka: from trading port to Japan’s kitchen

A city that offers a great variety of attractive tourist destinations for travelers to learn beyond common Japan, showcasing art, shopping streets, architecture, an iconic castle, and shrines that provide unique and unmatched experiences.

Urban energy, intense flavors, and vibrant culture

Discussion ranged from imposing castles to neighborhoods full of lights and flavor, providing information on places like:

  • Osaka Castle: A historical emblem of Japan, a witness to battles during the Edo period.
  • Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi: The commercial heart of Osaka, full of life, neon lights, and shops.
  • Hirakuza: Offering an interactive sumo experience designed for international visitors with live demonstrations, audience participation, and traditional food.
  • Shinsekai: A retro neighborhood with local essence, alleys filled with history, lanterns lit up, and the aroma of takoyaki, kushikatsu, and ramen wafting from small local stalls.

These are just a few of the must-sees in Osaka that will help travel agents design more authentic and memorable itineraries.

Hiroshima: resilience and rebirth

Hiroshima is a prefecture that went from tragedy to hope, and today it is a symbol of peace, reconstruction, and natural beauty. The webinar addressed its historical and spiritual importance, highlighting:

  • Buddhist temples and shrines that keep many ancestral customs alive.
  • Tranquil and green landscapes, ideal for reflection and cultural connection.
  • Day trips from Hiroshima to places like:
  • Iwakuni: with its famous Kintai Bridge and traditional atmosphere.
  • Onomichi: a picturesque destination with unique architecture and spectacular views.
