“Setouchi” is the name of the region surrounding the Seto Inland Sea that lies between main island and Shikoku Island, consisting of 7 prefectures which are Hyogo, Okayama, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Tokushima, Kagawa and Ehime.
The Seto Inland Sea, one of the first designated regions as a National Park in Japan, is home to more than 1000 islands scattered across which presents a breathtaking seascape.
Okinawa is Japan’s southernmost prefecture and consists of hundreds of the Ryūkyū Islands in a chain over 1,000 km long which stretches from Kyushu to Taiwan. Okinawa was a semi-independent kingdom called “Ryūkyū” that lasted for 400 years, influenced by both Japan and China.
“Kyushu” is an island region consisting of Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima. This destination combines a warm and tranquil atmosphere, breathtaking landscapes, incredible food and rich history. Kyushu is a land that was formed by, and continues to be shaped by volcanoes which created the natural wonder of hot springs.
The Kansai region is located in the south-central region of Japan’s main island, Honshū. The region includes Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyōgo, and Shiga prefectures.
Kansai (literally west of the checkpoint) in its original usage refers to the land west of the Osaka checkpoint, the border between Kyoto and Shiga prefectures.
