Encounter Japan Travel Hosts Webinar on Must-Visit Places in Tokyo and Kyoto

On May 22, Encounter Japan Travel held an exclusive webinar for travel agents focused on the most iconic destinations and also the hidden gems of Tokyo, Kyoto, and their surrounding areas. A valuable opportunity to discover new experiences and design more personalized itineraries for travelers.

What to See in Tokyo: Beyond the Classics

While highlights like Senso-ji Temple, Meiji Shrine, and the Shibuya Crossing were mentioned, the webinar emphasized unique experiences in Tokyo that can enrich any itinerary:

  • Attend a sumo tournament or training session
  • Enjoy seafood flavors through guided culinary experiences with a chef at Tsukiji Market or taste freshly caught seafood in the traditional fishing village of Misaki
  • Connect with nature in Okutama, perfect for hiking, hot springs, and spectacular views

These activities offer a way to experience Japan’s living culture without leaving the city.

What to See in Kyoto: History, Spirituality, and Tradition

In addition to iconic spots like Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, the webinar explored lesser-known places to connect with Japan’s spiritual side:

  • Hidden temples in the mountains (Sanzen-in Temple, less-traveled paths to Fushimi Inari)

  • Stone-paved streets and Zen gardens (Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Ryoanji Temple)
  • Traditional villages like Miyama and Ine, perfect for a truly immersive cultural experience

Getaways from Tokyo and Kyoto: Nearby Destinations

The webinar also introduced destinations just a few hours from the main cities—perfect for day trips or overnight stays. Some featured options included: Hakone, Nara, Nikko, Kawagoe, and Amanohashidate.

These spots offer the ideal combination of nature, tradition, and authenticity, all within reach of Japan’s major urban centers.

This session was an invitation to rediscover Japan from a fresh perspective—perfect for creating more meaningful and tailor-made experiences for your travelers.
